"As EUS VP Academic, I would continue and improve on the EUS's Health, Wellness and Academic Resources. My primary goal would be to increase the support for students suffering from burnout. By working with existing mental health and academic resources, we would focus on helping students mentally recuperate and working with professors to help students get back on track academically. I will also increase the amount of health and wellness resources and events available to UBC Engineering students to help us prevent burnout and other mental health crises from happening. I will be a relentless advocate for the academic grievances of UBC Engineering students and I will work to coordinate EUS tutoring with other free tutoring services around campus"
LIST OF ISSUES
Burnout

Engineering's large course load combined with academic pressure often causes students to burnout. As VP Academic, I would work with the EUS's ad hoc Health and Wellness Committee to create a comprehensive plan to provide support for students suffering from a burnout.

This plan would cover both the Health and Wellness portion and the Academic portion of the VP Academic portfolio. The plan would work to provide students with the resources necessary to recover mentally and cooperate with professors to help students catch up without overburdening them.

Academic Advocacy

As VP Academic, I would continue the ongoing "Beef and Pizzas" events to hear UBC Engineering students academic grievances. I would also work with departmental clubs to keep a good grasp on what people are saying about their individual courses.

Once these grievances are received, I would work tirelessly contacting the professors involved and possibly administration to resolve the issues in an amicable and timely matter.

Ongoing Health and Wellness Resources

UBC has many amazing resources for health and wellness. As VP Academic, I would make sure that a complete directory/guide to health and wellness resources applicable to UBC Faculty of Engineering students is available. on the EUS's website. Furthermore, I would work with the rest of the EUS to create more health and wellness events (like doggos coming to school!!!) I would work with individual departmental clubs to help host more small scale events for individual departments as well. As EUS Academic VP, I would work tirelessly to provide UBC Engineering students the health and wellness resources to not just survive, but thrive under a heavy course load.

Tutoring

As VP Academic, I would continue to support the EUS's tutoring program. Furthermore, I would coordinate with existing free tutoring resources on campus to collaborate come exam time to deliver UBC Engineering students the best quality of tutoring possible.
